Question Shutdown and Hibernate Problems

Every time i want to shutdown my pc, i have to go through the 'shutdown proceedure' twice before it will actually shut down. The first time all programs are closed, and the second it actually shuts down...

Also, on my keyboard, i have a sleep button. I like to have it set to hibernate, and i use the function quite regularly. However, every time i reboot my computer (ie properly shutdown and start up, not just hibernate and boot up), the settings automatically change so that the sleep button is set to 'do nothing' and i have to go through the control panel and change it back...

Both are highly annoying, does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks,

- Smiffy.

Welcome to the forums smiffy,

Are you familiar with your PCs bios? If you are not then please can you post your PC make and model number. We are gong to look at disabling power saving functions in the bios.

No problem, can you run this: http://www.pchelpforum.com/your-pc-d...-out-here.html and post the first 30 or so lines as a text file (attachment) here.

Heh, not daft!

Ok, within your bios, look for power-saving options and dis-able them. Re-test the shutdown etc...
