Default Original problem resolved. New problem + questions.

So, I finally got the hard drive thing all figured out. Now I have a nother problem. When I start up windows, my keyboard powers on and everything, however, when it prompts me to enter my password, the keyboard no longer works. Before I set up a password the keyboard wouldn't work either, I couldnt type anything in the adress bar, nothing. The keyboard is a PS2 keyboard... A USB one works perfectly find but for some reason the PS2 one doesn't.

now for the questions:

1. on the taskbar by the clock there is an icon with a green arrow that says SAFELY REMOVE HARDWARE when i put the cursor over it. I'm using an SATA drive and am wondering if thats suppose to be there, because usually thats only there when I plug in a digital camera or an outside device such as a scanner.

2. Check <<< thats my mobo and as you can see there are two onboard 10/100 lan connectors. well, this is what I have in my network connections folder: http://www.spark-studios.net/other/untitled.GIF ... problem is, why does my computer only connect to the internet when I connect the cable to the lower lan plug?... I font i weird. Also why cant i delete one of the connections that im not using.

Thanks.

The "remove safely" icon appears because SATA drives are seen as "hot-swappable" by some motherboards...do you have the NForce SW IDE driver installed?

If you want to remove the icon permanently, you can disable it by right-clicking the taskbar > properties > customize > click on safely remove hardware > select always hide > ok.

As for the network connections, in your image, you're showing the 1394 connection: Description here.

Default PS2 fun ;)

Hey there FantasticSnowman,

Welcome to the PC help forum.

ok, so now i have the keyboard problem remaining... could it be that my ps2 drivers are not installed? my mobo cd has nothing that even relates to ps2 drivers... so what do i do about this...
One question; Do you have 2 PS2 ports? I've noticed that sometimes a keyboard will only work in one and the other is reserved for a PS2 mouse.

In any case, if you have 2 have you tried both?

This might seem rediculous but it's usually the simplest solution...

If not, we have a great team of experts who can help out, I'm sure one of them will be able to jump on this as soon as possible.
