Default Help with sons laptop

Hello all please could any one point me in the right direction my sons laptop has started freezing up and he has also had the blue screen of death.On the blue screen it said
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_OR_EQUAL
0x000000d1 (0x00000000,0x000000ff,0x00000001,0x82c2a927)
any help would be gratful thanks FAZ
As for the spec i will try my best to get a copy of it latter

Hi there Faz , welcome to PCHF.

That is very likely a driver issue. Does it also mention a file name on that blue screen?

But my first bet would be an USB device driver , do you have any USB apps connected?

no there is nothing conected to the laptop but we had a problem a wile ago trying to conecting a webcam to it.It would not reconise the divice

Have a look in your add/remove programs , youre "program files" folder and also youre device manager to see if there is still something from the webcam install left.

will do if i can get it to start up keeps freezing at the boot screen

Can you get in safemode? (hit f8 when booting up)

i find if i let it cool down for a wile it will boot up ok
