Default Unable to delete game demo setup

Hey

I've just come back from uni to find my home PC a mess! I've got the majority of it sorted but one problem I'm having is a setup program to install a demo game, Pedal To The Metal. It's not installed on the computer but every time I try to delete it, it comes up with a message saying the file is in use but when I go to Task Manager it doesn't show up on there.

How can I get rid of this?!

Hi Claire, can you try booring into Safe Mode for me, by restarting your PC and tapping F8 as soon as it reboots. You will then see a menu with lots of options, highlight and select "Safe Mode" with your arrow keys and press enter. When you see the welcome screen come up logon as the Admin account and try to delete the file. Let is know if it works.

Looking forward to your reply

Try to browse to the game folder through explorer and see whether there is an uninstall in that directory.
  • C:\PROGRAM FILES
Search with there for the directory, it could be under a folder called scssoft or pedal to the metal

Ok, boot back into Safe Mode, click on the Administrator account and try the password as Administrator or administrator

Alternatively try to leave the password field blank and just press enter.
Make sure the username is Administrator.

You can also try to delete it with Killbox.

download KillBox by Option^Explicit from HERE.

Double click on Killbox.exe and then check the delete on reboot button.

Enter the full filepath and filename into the "Full path of file to delete" box.

Click the red circle with the white x and allow your computer to reboot.
(if killbox doesn't reboot on its own then please reboot manually)
