I tried to restart but all that happens is the CD drive churns stops and then nothing.
Anybody have any ideas?
The message you're getting is
usually caused by a hardware problem. It's been my experience that about 90% of the time it's the
CPU (over heating) or a bad stick of
RAM. Some things you can check to determine the problem:
After booting up, check the tempature of the
CPU and see if it's in the proper tempature range
Swap out the
RAM for a stick you know is good
I kind of lean towards the overheating because you stated that it's up and running, then after a period of time; you get the fault message. If the
RAM was bad, the message would appear almost immediately, whereas the
CPU would take some time to generate the heat.
Again, these are just starting points to check first and may not be the problem.
