Default Need Audio Cd Help

Alright so I was trying to install a used soundcard a little while ago, and I guessed I skrewed with my audio drivers or something. I never got the card to work, but I went back in and installed all of the audio drivers that I could. The computer works just fine, except that neither of my CD drives (one of which came with the computer) will play audio cds. Like in my computer, it recognizes that they are audio cds with audio files, but when I try to play them (in WMP, Itunes, Real, Powerdvd, or Winamp) I always get some sort of an error message. I mainly use WMP, and the error message I get there says: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is on another computer, verify that you are connected to the network. If you typed a path, verify that it is correct. If the problem persists, the server might not be available." The drives play DVDs, software cds perfectly.

Does anyone know how I can get them to work, or at least tell me what the problem is?

Hello Claypoolman Welcome To PCHF,
Can you try this. Put your Audio cd in and right click the drive that it is in and click "open with" and try to open it with another player such as Real player. See if that works.

I've tried it in every program that plays media files on my computer, and I still haven't been able to achieve playback.

can you use this program to completly get rid of all audio drivers, then reinstall the ones for the card you have now. Maybe somthing got messed up upon reinstalling drivers for 2 card's.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...-Cleaner.shtml

Make sure only to choose the drivers for your card's.. As this program will erase all drivers.

Ok so I'm kinda a noob at this stuff so can you do more of a step by step kinda of thing? Right now I'm using whatever sound card is integrated into my computer and I'm not even sure what that driver is called.

Not a problem. We can do it another way.

Right click my computer/click manage/Device Manager. Go to audio devices, Right click your audio driver (will be named somthing like AC97 etc.) and click uninstall. Reboot the pc. Upon rebooting, windows will notice your driver is gone and reinstall the driver itself. Also can you let us know when going into your device manager what type on intergrated sound you have.
