Default Reformatting Issues

I have tried to reformat my pc, i set to boot from the cd drive. And selected the current partition to be formatted with NTFS. But when setup tells me that it is complete and restarts my pc it goes directly to the same setup and if i try to exit tells me Xp is not completely installed, this is the case as I tried booting from my hard drive and nothing happened.
On the screen to select a partition to format, it gives me C: NTFS but it seems to not have enough space free for the reinstallation. Should i create a new partition? I am not sure how to bypass this step. Any help is very welcome

ps answers with detailed walkthroughs are welcomed

Hi there Linde!
Welcome to PC Help Forum!

What's the size of your harddisk?

By the way, what does the 666 in your name mean?

Do i need to actually delete the current partition rather than reformatting?

What's the size of your partition?
Or is your disk just 1 partition of 140GB?
You could anyway try to delete the (or all) partition and then just use install Windows on the 140000 MB's you see on the screen.
The second time make sure your boot from your harddrive. When the install files are copied, you best take out the XP CD, and put it in when the setup asks for it, the other way is to change the Boot configuration in the BIOS when the files are copied.

Oh and, I'm a Christian so I was wondering, hope you understand

The partition comes up as 30mb and the disk tries to install from disk something around 31mb, im just unsure how to re-install this. I dont want to delete something that would result in me not being able to fix my pc. My dad has reformatted the pc before and dell gave me this link www.windowsreinstall.com And there are different options to repair or reinstall. Im just a bit confused and nervous ya see, could someone give me a talk through of how they would reformatt their pc? and ill see if i did the same.

30MB is pretty poor.
That'll never be enough to install your Windows XP.
There are no files left on the disk that you want to keep?

Check if you can use these:

If you got questions just post.
