Default Blue screen of death...help please!

Ugh, this is driving me mad:

Recently, my pc has been crashing at totally random times to a blue error screen (also crashes while playing games to a completely blank blue screen).

Usually, when i start the pc up, i get an error message which basically tells me its a problem with my memory - so i tried using the microsoft memory diagnostic tool, but it doesn't work ( i dont have a floppy disk drive, and when i do choose to burn it to CD, my pc doesn't reconize the disk at startup, even when i order the bios to boot from the disk drive first).

here's my pc specs:

I'd give more infomation, although i just dont know what to look for/do. does the pc make some sort of text file about the error or something?, if so, can someone tell me how to find it and i'll post it on this thread.

All this started after recently Reformatting my pc (which took a while TBH - as after reformatting XP would fail to load the setup), i havn't recently installed anything major (and besides, everything i install is what ive had on for a good year without no issues).

i appreciate any help, thanks!.

I doubt this'll do much, but i'll post a logfile from hijackthis:

EDIT------------------

I just rebooted a few minutes ago, and got this stop message error:

stop: 0x0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X85G6F5BDB, 0X85GF5AE8, 0X00000000) (didn't give any other info than that)

Hya DeanoTIK , welcome to PCHF.

That error seems to point directly to faulty ram , and could correspond to youre installation problems:

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Windows XP, you may receive a Stop Error message that is similar to one of the following while the Setup program is running: STOP 0x0000008e
STOP 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
Additionally, if you troubleshoot by removing all unnecessary hardware devices that are installed on the computer, and then you run the Setup program, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following: Setup cannot copy the file Setupdd.sys.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if one of the following conditions is true: •One or more of the random access memory (RAM) modules that are installed on your computer are faulty.•The RAM configuration is incompatible with Windows XP.
RESOLUTION

To troubleshoot this behavior, follow these steps:

1.Remove some of the memory modules that are installed on the computer. Leave at least the RAM that is required for the computer to start and run Windows XP.

The recommended RAM to run Windows XP is 128 megabytes (MB). The minimum is 64 MB, and the maximum is 4 gigabytes.

For example, if two 256-MB memory modules are installed on your computer, remove one of the memory modules.2.Restart your computer, and then run the Setup program: a. Insert the Windows XP Setup CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive, start the computer, and then click OK to select the first option screen to install a copy of Windows XP. b. Click Accept, and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Windows XP installation.3.If you again receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, go to step 4.4.Remove a different memory module, or install the RAM in a different memory slot.5.Restart your computer, and then rerun Setup.

You may have to restart your computer several times to identify the specific memory modules that are not working correctly.

Try it with only one stick of ram if you have severall , and swap them around the find the faulty stick. Or with a new stick of ram if you only have one.

I would just buy some new RAM. I've had the blue screen of death on a brand new PC.

My welcome to PCHF DeanoTIK!

Looks to me as a pretty new PC.
So this problem will be under guarantee I think.
When did you buy this system?
