Default EWIDO takes LONG time to load during boot

Using XP home, sp2, AVG , Kerio Personal firewall and EWIDO suite.

When I boot my computer, it takes more than 90 seconds, from the time windows screen comes up, for EWIDO to load, then in less than 10 seconds KPF loads.

I have installed new HDD and installed XP home, SP2 to see if something was corrupted. (I was going to install new HDD anyway) The slow loading is still the same.

Any suggestion on how to speed up EWIDO loading?

Thanks

bently

Hey Bently,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a super team of techs on site with a wide varety of computer knowledge, and I am sure that we will be able to help you figure this out.

Your problem sounds like ewido is hanging because it is loading with everything else. Have you taken a good look at your startup list to see if everything you have loading needs to be on start up?

Click on Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG. Click on the StartUp tab and look through that list to see if you need everything.

There are some terrific programs out there that can help you organize your Startup, determine whether or not to have different programs run, and even put a delay on some. For example, as ewido is a big program, you could delay it to not start until the other programs were finished, thereby considerably decreasing the amount of lag time for ewido.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

LGW

Do you have the free or the paid version? And do you have youre firewall setup to allow Ewido to access the net to update itself? It could also be that youre firewall is the cause , because it hasn't started yet , Ewido can't access the net and hangs whille trying.

And do you have any other anti spyware apps running?
