Default [Fixed] SVChost.exe

Okay, I just got my new computer, installed all the drivers I needed to, some games, etc. and noticed that when I was playing, the game would get jumpy for a couple seconds then keep going. I knew it shouldn't be doing that because it's a brand new computer and, while the specs aren't great, they're good enough to have the game run smoothly.
So I exited and checked my system processes under the task manager and had it listed in order of CPU usage. Everything was fine then one of the SVChost.exe would spike and use 80%+ of the CPU for a few seconds then drop down. I watched for a couple of minutes, and the entire time this happened. It's one of three SVChost.exe used by the system.
I have Spybot Search and Destroy, Ewido, and AVG Pro. I did scans with all of them and (aside from a couple spyware programs) found nothing.
What can I do to remedy this problem?
Here are my computers specs:

System:
Windows XP Home (5.1 Build 2600)
Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2800+
1024MB RAM

Display:
Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 Ultra 128MB AGP

If you need any more info, just let me know.
Thanks

2. click on 'Config'
3. click on 'Misc Tools'
4. Put a check in 'List also minor sections (full)' and 'list empty sections (complete)'
5. click on 'Generate StartupList log'
6. click on 'yes' to make the log
7. Then attach the resulting log to a post here

Then i can what is running on youre pc and what is using the svchost.exe's.

As far as I can see there are no 'strange' items in your log. Remember a notebook isn't meant for playing games. The problem you have can also be realted to the power settings of your notebook. But you also mention svchost activity, what firewall do you use?

Indeed no strange items in there. But i think what could be going on is that you have windows autoupdates turned on , try turning that of and see if it happends again. And it could also be "system restore" at work.

I turned off auto-update in the startup on msconfig. Looks like that did it.
I thought that auto-update ran under a different process though?
Well, it seems like it's fixed now. Thanks for the help!
I'll stick around the boards and try to help anyone I can with the knowledge I have.
I've got some experience messing with wireless and/or ethernet networks (setting up LAN parties). I know a little here and there about working with comps, so maybe I can help somewhere.
