You could also try one last thing, right click on your desktop and choose properties, then change your resolution to something like 800x 600 and see if that helps.

Alternatively boot into safemode and see whether you have you start menu in there.

Yeah i'm just going to stop doing anything w/ my computer now. I was going to change it to 800x600 like you said but i found out that was what it was so, not really knowing why, i changed it all the up then restarted my computer and now once it gets to the screen to pick the user it's just a blue bar about 3" wide. So i'm not even going to do anything with that computer untill i can get someone to look at it. (In case you were wandering how i am posting this then, i'm on a diff. one) But thanks for all the help, and if i can i'll see how he fixes the bar problem and tell you so you may be able to help others that have the same problem as i do now.
