Default PC shutsdown and then doesn't reboot

Hello,

My PC has recently developed a habbit of shuttingdown when I am in the middle of doing something and then not restarting. It literally just goes to a complete stop and then refuses to turn on again for a minute or so. I've encountered several problems like this before, but I am at a loss as to the cause of this problem, could it be the PSU causing the whole system to shutdown?

Hya Steve , welcome to PCHF.

To check if it is an heat or psu problem , download and run one of these apps and report back the results please:

And to have a look if it might be a malware issue , can you follow the instructions in the "Prework" link below and attach the log files to a post here to check that out.

I'm quite sure it isn't a malware issue. He mentions that he's unable to start the PC for a minute or so, in that case I'm quite sure this problem is hardware related. But just follow the Prework instructions to make sure it is not malware.

LOL , missed that part.. and it even says it in the title..

Yeah , then it sounds like it probebly isn't a malware problem but more likely a heat problem. But it never hurts to check for malware anyway.

Do all the fans in youre pc work?

Hi Steve
Did you by any chance change the hardware configurations ie alter the speed of your processor by over clocking? or changed the fans(used one with less fins) you used before which led to overheating.
