Hi Yusco, what exactly do you want to do?
The only way to increase the performance of your graphics card, if that's what you want to do' is by choosing a lower resolution, refresh rate or bit settings. Changing back from 32/24-bit to 16-bit will put less pressure on your graphicscard and is hardly noticeable.
If you want to 'push your card to the limit' which is strongly advice against. You can overlock (change the frequency the card works at) the card. You can do this either in the bios, when you have a motherboard which supports this feature. Or you can do it using software, or somtetimes, a registry tweak.
I strongly advice against this because:
- The card will generate much more heat, without proper cooling the card will be fried and, when you really have bad luck, other components will also be fried. So get a good cooler on the card.
- Since the graphicscard is working much harder, and is not built for overclocking, errors can occur, because the card needs to process data quicker then it was built for. This can result in minor problems like a screen not rendered like it should be, to crashes of your computer
If you really want to get better graphics, pushing the card to the limit isn't the best solution, upgrading your hardware, memory,
cpu, graphicscard, is.
If you have any other questions about this I'll be glad to answer them for you.
Bram
ps. the overclocking can also be done with the
cpu but the same risks apply
