Go to device manager. Now click action, and click scan
for hardware changes., if that doesnt help. Go to veiw,
"show hidden devices" and see if that helps.

Welcome to PC Help Forum Jimbolarue!

Are you using Windows XP Professional or Home Edition?
This is a strange thing, it has not been visible since your installation?
Also you have installed XP the standard way?
Are you using a modified version of Windows?

Did you maybe disable the "Plug and Play" service ?

1.Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2.Double-click Plug and Play.

If you receive a Configuration Manager message, click OK.
3.In the Startup Type list, click Automatic, and then click OK.

4.Close Services.

5.Restart the computer.
