 Hey John,

Welcome to PHCF. We have a wonderful crew of incredible techs here and I am sure that we can help you to solve this.

Lets see if we can identify what is causing the problem. First off, can you please give us the Model # of both your PC and your DVD. Also the name and version of the software you are using to try these burns.

Has this combination worked for you in the past? Have you changed brands of DVD-Rs?

You said that your DVD drive is not reading your DVDs, is it also not burning anything? Is the drive recognizing that there is a DVD in the drive? If you go to Explorer, can you see the files on the DVD? Have you tried copying them to the hard drive to see if they can be read from there?

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

My model number to my Hewlett Packard computer is A705W.
I'm not so sure where to find my model number for my DVD drive
can you help me find it?

Sure, NP

Actually you will find this program really useful for all kinds of information about your computer. In my signature you will see a link for Belarc. This is a program that will scan your computer and give you detailed information about it, without sending to the outside world, so it is completely safe.

It is pretty self explanatory, post back if you have any trouble. Otherwise, post back with the info on the DVD. :cheesy:

Look forward to your reply,

LGW

Well I downloaded the Belarcs thing and it shows me a
whole lot of information about my computer . I'm not
sure exactly where to look at that page if you can show
me a screenshot that would be very useful, thank you.

Hi John,

It should be pretty easy, is the DVD one of the drives on your computer? If so, simply look under drives. If it is an external drive, you should be able to read it off of the box itself.

Does that make sense?

LGW
