Default [Fixed] Floppy Drive not working

Wierd problem, I did a cleaning on both my bro's an my computer and reconnected everyhting how it's supposed to be and how I always reconnect it except now all of a sudden the floppy drive on both computers doesn't work. On mine the activity light remains on permanently and on the other it just doesn't recognize when you put floppies in it... I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the IDE cables and power cables but to no avail, unfortunently I don't have another computer to try those floppy drives on

Hi darklord, have you tried flipping the flatcables? They're supposed to be the other way around, compared to the ide cables. The red marking on the cable needs to be on the left side (seen from the back).

Good luck :-)

Yep... I tried last night after posting this, no luck. I think the end conencted to the floppy is supposed to have twisted cables right? As in their not straight, some of them twist themselves. We bought a new floppy drive and it doesn't work either, both computers were formated shortly after the floppy drives were found not to work also so there's no malware/viruses/trojans

Yup they're supposed to have a twist. you've tried all possible, well 'all' there are only four, combinations for connecting the cable to both the floppy and motherboard?
Have you disabled the floppy drive in the bios?

I got the floppy on the old computer working by just inversing the cable (wierd huh) and I put a new IDE cable for mine and it worked. Second time I burn an IDE cable in my computer and have no idea why... lol
Thanks for the help though
