@Joe, Just wondering, is it possible that the graphics settings were affected by all that malware? Also, since HJT is no longer showing any problems, perhaps Spy Sweeper or Counter Spy could help identify any traces left.

Also, Eva, it would be very helpful if you would post the ewido log showing us what it cleaned, sometimes there are other procedures that need to be followed in order to completely clean an infection.

Another thought was that stray reg entries could be interfering with both the scanner and the pictures being able to show.

In regard to the new scanner, has it ever worked? Are you sure that the drivers are installed and that the scanner is recognized?
