Default [Fixed] Whenever i try to play a video my pc freezes!

Whenever i try to play a video my pc freezes and i have 2 restart.
I can play *.AVI files that are imported from my camera but i cannot play anyother format, mpg, wmv, mov. Even when i enter my video folder my pc freezes!! I can still play any video format.
I think it may be to do with the codecs, or my graphics card driver but ive downloaded the wmp9 codec package and a new driver but my pc still freezes when i try to play a video. My direct X is up to date v 9.0c.
Do you think some codecs could be clashing?
Here is my list of codecs:
Codec Reporting Utility Output Text

Could it be something to do with the broken codecs? If so where do i download them from?
Can someone help me please?

Cheers,
FyawurX

I've got a complete codec installaer made by Kazaa (it's not illegal), when I get home I'll upload it and send you a link. I used to have lots of problems with codecs and files not opening and playing, that installer fixed all my codec issues. So if in like 5 hours you're still in need of help, I'll send you the link (Don't get home until around 7pm tonight, GMT -5)
Cheers

Severall possibilities , but first try this:

start regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

and delete this value:

EncodeDivXExt

Or if that doesn't work , try this:

open regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shel lex\PropertyHandler

Delete the "Default" value which should be

"{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}"

Good question

It's the registry editor in Windows. You can get to it by going > Start > run > type regedit and press enter.

I couldnt find 'EncodeDivXExt' under the address you mentioned.

Also 'SystemFileAssociations' wasnt even there.

Cheers,
