Default [FIXED] Cant boot from Startup Disk

Well, I am back with another problem. I am trying to format the C drive for the previous "frustrating problem" computer. However, I cannot get the system to boot from the Startup disk (Floppy). It is a FAT32 and the OS was originally Windows 98 with an upgrade to XP Home.

The recovery disk, which I had used before is a Windows 98 Startup disk.

Any advice?

Hi there! the first thing i would do is check your BIOS is set to boot fromn the floppy disk drive. If you dont know what key to press post back here with the make and model number of your BIOS and i will look up the combination of keys for you

Why do you want to format your disk?
If you want to reinstall XP then you can simply boot from your XP Home CD and let the Windows installation format your disk.

It would've been easier to boot from the CD I agree. But I wasn't sure if that would wipe everything off and start fresh. This computer was a complete mess and I didn't want to take any chances. I will keep that in mind for future refeance though. Thanks.

I actually do not see why he should not boot from the CD-Rom but I might have misread something.

Glad to hear you solved the problem anyway Jivers.

Marked as fixed.
