Default Just got a labtop with 98 on it

Hey my naigbor gave me a laptop that had windows 98 on it and alot of there work stuff that they dont need.. And i want to install windows xp on it.. But i am haven some problems.. When i put the xp cd in on the boot up and when it loads and stuff it says Not enough of memory to install windows xp.. Soo whats the easy way to clear some stuff up on the pc?? I did the add and remove program thing but that takes along time.. And i delete all of the files in C because it only had a C driver not D.. I really want to get this thing worken with xp

Why not try a great little utility in our Downloads/Utilities section called Treesize. It will show you exactly what directories and programs are hogging all that precious space

well i cant get on the net on it.. Because it does not have a thing for the earthnet.. SOo is there any other way i can clean the pc for i can install xp?

Are you doing an upgrade install from win98 or a fresh install of XP?
Also how much memory is installed and how big is the hd?

trying to install a fresh copy. And i have 1.19GB Free space and used 833MB and capacity is 2.00GB

That is gone be pretty tight on a 2gb HD but if you boot from the xp cd and do a fresh install then you shouldn't have any probs.

How are you trying to install?

And it might also be an good idea to check if youre hardware is compatible with xp , try this if you still have an O.S. on there:

I am putting the disk in when it boots and boot from the xp cd.. But should i try a upgrade on my windows 98 window open
