Default Speed and Memory

A while back, on my old computer (XP though), i was messing around with my settings and i saw something that said switching memory for speed. I dont quite remeber how or where it was. Now i have a newer compter with a load of space on my drives that isnt needed and i would like it to be faster. Does anyone know anything about what im talking about? I may be mistaken. Please help. Thank you.

Hi Yuscu2,

I'm not sure about the specific setting you are looking for but you may find it in one of these articles.

http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...look-this.html

http://www.tweakxp.com/performance_tweaks.aspx

Edit: Hey Yuscu2, I may have found the settings you are talking about, right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, click on the Advanced tab, under Performance, click on the Settings button. Now click on the Advanced tab for Performance Options, I think this is what you are talking about.

Let us know how they work out for you.

Hi Yuscu2,

Here is information on the System Cache from pcguide.
http://www.pcguide.com/ref/mbsys/cache/func.htm

Background programs are exactly what they say, programs that run in the background that you the user do not necessarily interact with, but which are integral to the operation of the PC.
