Default PC problems on Start UP!

I'm writing word for word what happens when I try to start my computer. Have tried this 5 times now, same results:

Scan Devices, Please Wait (no response)

Hardware Initiate failed, please check device (what device?)

The BIOS does not be installed (word for word) sp?

Press g to continue (so I press)

No Hard Disk Detected! Press F1 to resume (so I did)

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any K (what boot device)

So, computer doesn't do anything from this point on. I've never had a real problem up until now. Does anyone have a clue what is going on???

Any help is appreciated

Welcome to PCHF Killroy.

Let's try the easy stuff first...resetting your BIOS.

Open the PC case and look at the motherboard - locate the bios battery (a big silver "watch battery" looking thing) and remove it. Take the power cable out of the back of the PC and leave it for 30 seconds. Replace the bios battery and then the power cable and switch on the PC. Tell us what happens.

Hey thanks for the information, and I can't believe I left out an important piece of information that might help.

4 months ago I was having a CMOS corrupt issue and found out it originated from the motherboard Battery. I thought it went bad, so I took it out and replaced with new one.

So after doing that everything seemed to work fine...until now. Do you think there could be a loose holding for the battery?

I'll try this tonight and see if it helps.

Thanks,

Ummm..the first thing I would try, given that information, is a new battery

Well, things went from bad to worse. I contacted my PC customer support (ABS) and we were troubleshooting with no success.

He wanted me to switch my raid cable to 2 others on the motherboard, when I did, the computer really started having problems, so much that I smelled smoke.

Anyway long story short, ABS did not help me so now I have Geeks on Call coming out tomorrow to find out what happened. I have a new power supply on hold just in case.
