Default [Resolved] Help my computer will not boot

hello

my name is tom and i have a dell computer im not exactly sure but is a dimension desktop pc. I have xp home operating system on the pc.

what has basicly happend is that i was ran a microsoft anti spyware scan. upon completion of this scan the computer needed to be restarted which i did. This is where things went wrong. the dell screen cam up with the loading bar beneath it. It got to about 3 quaters done and stoped it then did not move for about a minute. i assumed it was frozen and switch off the pc by the power button. instead of the loading screen appearing there is a black screen with white writing which is basicly telling me that there has been a previous error in booting the pc and that i should contact dell technical support. i am looking for some help in this situation and also to warn others running microsoft antispyware as this may be just a glitch but might be a bug or some fault which could affect others.

thank you for reading this and post backs would be greatly appreciated.
