Default [Resolved] lost sound

hello there people,
A while ago i completely whiped my hard drive (because of a virus), deleting everything, after i re-installed windows and such, i found out that i had no sound, i am thinking this is because some how i accidently deleted my sound drives aswell. is this right? and where would be able to get some more/get them back. my screen resolution has also gone funny as i cannot change the colour quality from 8 bit true colour (or what ever it was). please help me because my familys nagging is quite annoying. another information that may help is that i have a Dell Dimention 2400 and windows XP, not quite sure what sound devices i have but can proberly find out from somewhere.

Thanks very much, any help is very much appreicated.

Hey there skidgreen, welcome to PCHF .

Go to Windows Update and try to download the drivers from there. In the mean time, could you please tell me if the speakers and monitor are the ones that shiped with your 2400? If so you should have received a driver CD for both.

See if Windows Update has them, much less time consuming .

I wouldn't use winupdate for drivers and niether disc's supplyed with the pc , they are both almost surtanly out of date.

If you enter youre service tag here:

http://support.dell.com/support/down...=19&l=en&s=dhs

Then you can get the drivers for youre pc there. Also make sure to check other drivers like the motherboard's.
