Default [RESOLVED] Master cd

Mate of mine needs to reboot his pc but he hasn`t got the original cd that came with his system, so the question is will my cd work on his pc. They`re not made by the same manufacturer so don`t know if that makes a difference. Many thanks

Hi teash

As long as your friend has the Windows XP license key, normally stuck to the side of the PC case, and you are both running windows XP then you should be able to use your CD in his machine.

If you are doing a complete reinstall (including format) then you shouldn't run into any problems.

They`re not made by the same manufacturer
What manufacturer are you and your friend running?

If you have a Fujitsu restore CD, it will not work on any pc from an other manufacturer.
A original Windows XP CD will do it on every pc though.

As long as the cd is just XP. it can have dell's name on it gateway etc.. it will work. Now if it is a restore cd Bluefish is correct. But as long as it only has XP on it you will have no problems.

:-D Hey Guys,

Teash, also, if it's just booting that your friend needs, you can always get a boot disk at BootDisk.com. Then you can install XP.
