Default [RESOLVED] Computer won't shut off

I click start, turn off computer, and then turn off. It restarts. I do it again and it turns off. For some reason for the past week or so, I've had to click to turn off twice before it turns off. Anyone know why.

I know I'm asking for help, but Im not stupid. I'm not clicking restart.

Have you installed any new hardware recently?

Could you try and bootup into safemode and then try shutting down your computer. Lets see whether it restarts from safemode or if it only does it in normal mode.

I have seen this a couple time's.. Sometimes it can be as easy as doing this Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under ?Startup & Recovery,? click Settings. Under ?System Failure,? uncheck the box in front of ?Automatically restart.? works about `75% of the time. the other thing it could be is as zimbo said above new hardware, also bad drivers

This little program can help as well, it overrides windows shutdown command, and allows you to either shutdown or reboot and some other option's.. What CD/burning software do you have?

I'm so sorry I haven't replied. My internet isn't working. The problem seemed to resolve itself.
