Welcome to PCHF.

Please can you be more specific about the error message. Re-run the Ghost (good program) utility and note down the exact message and when it occurs - thanks.

*Ok...the first error when the computer is turned on says* -

"Windows could not start because the following files is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system

You can attempt to repair the file by starting Windows Setup using the original setup Cd-Rom.
Select "r" at the first screen to start repair."

Pressing R only RESTARTS the comp.

*After inserting CD-Rom 1 of 3*

"System Restore Menu/Windows XP

1. Restore Windows XP
2. Boot to command prompt from CD-ROM.

Please select 1 or 2."

*I selected 1*

Messege comes up and says "All files on C will be deleted. Press Y if yes, press N if no.

*I pressed Y*

Symantec Ghost 7.5 starts up and before it does anything a error shows up and says "Cannot open R:\T2865.GHO"

*I pressed OK*

Another messege showed up asking a question "Output A:\Ghosterr.txt?"

You have to select either YES or NO.

When I select NO it shows-

"Application Error 11000

Invalid dump file, if this program persists contact Symantec Technical Support at http://service.symantec.com"

*I pressed OK*

And computer restarts....

If I press YES- "Cannot open Ghosterr.txt - insert diskette" error shows up.

What should I do to fix this....? Or is this even fixable?

I don't use Ghost but i think if you put a floppy in youre drive that a error log will be copyed to it.

And the first error that you get sounds like a dirty or damaged disc.

Symantec Ghost 7.5 starts up and before it does anything a error shows up and says "Cannot open R:\T2865.GHO"
This could indicate that your CD is dirty or corrupt as the file is your re-build image. Do you have the Ghost interface? Can you select a "source" for the image - i.e: another drive...the R: drive doesn't look right. Can you select D: or E: or is there a drop down box or anything?

Have you spoke to EMachines about this? Can I suggest that you use their "Live Chat" facility here: https://support.gateway.com/support/..._emachines.asp before you start to pull your hair out
