Before using Hijack This Can you please do this for me:

Download Ccleaner , see for a link below in my sig.

Show hidden files and folders:

For XP:

1.On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
2.Click the View tab.
3.Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
4.If you see a warning message, click Yes.
5.Click Apply.
6.Click OK.

Then disable system restore to prevent re-infection.
(if you have/use it.)
(you can turn it back on when youre pc is clean).

How to disable system restore:

WinXP.

Click the Start button.
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
On the System Restore tab, check Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives.

Boot in safemode. (hit f8 when booting up)

Open up youre taskmanager and see if these are still running , if they are then kill them:

rwadn.exe
istsvc.exe

Then start hjt and fix these:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://channels.aimtoday.com/search/aimtoolbar.jsp
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - SOFTWARE - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [??# L"h'?9??3r?WC:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\WINDOWS\rwadn.exe

After that delete the files in bold , and then run ccleaner.

Reboot and post a new hjt log please.

I deleted two of the ones in bold after saving the log file. I didn't see the rwadn.exe one. I still have the low disk space in the System_Sav D drive.

Hi there

C:\DOCUME~1\default\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory 1 for hijackthis[1].zip\HijackThis.exe
I'm thinking that every time you run CrapCleaner, you're going to be having to download HijackThis again because it's being deleted all the while. To ensure the program and also backups are safely stored, you should either transfer HJT from this location, or download it again using the "Save" option and to a permanent directory. You might of course be running HJT from its zip folder, but that is still not recommended

As for now, I'm off for some sleep, but I'll give a hand here later if needs be and if I can.

Regards,
M_M

Hello again

Go to Start > Run > type notepad - click OK and then copy/paste the following into the blank document...

Code:
regedit /e HKCURun.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"
regedit /e HKLMRun.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"
copy HKLMRun.txt + HKCURun.txt = Output.txt
del /q HKLMRun.txt
del /q HKCURun.txt
notepad Output.txt
del /q Output.txt
...close & save the document as type All Files and as anyfilename.BAT and then execute the batch file by opening it. A further text document (Output.txt) will open for which I would like to review its results.

Regards,
M_M

Hey, i'm new to the forum and i have a critical problem assoicated with system restore and desperately need help. When i system restored, undid the restoration, and restarted, the startup script doesn't run and the taskbars and desktop icons doesn't load. When i tried to access system resotre again, it doesn't load but most other programs load perfectly (I'm accessing the internet with firefox with the same computer). Can someone help me fix the problem without having to reinstall windowsXP (professional)? Thank you in advance!
