Default CAT SPILLED WATER IN PC

UNDERSTAND...my case is OPEN...side panel is always off...it was laying on the floor, with the power supply OUT of the case also....with the open side UP (just to paint the mental picture)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MY CAT(s) must of knock the glass (FULL glass of water) over sometime during the night...LEFT MY COMPUTER ON AS I WAS DOWNLOADING STUFF OVERNIGHT....

======(P4 3.0/ 1.5 GB DDR RAM/2 HDD/SBLASTER/ETC...)

So i wake up to check on it in the morning before work... I wake to see an empty glass IN the case...water all over the desk..... :cry:..and the computer is OFF! hmmm...It was ON when i left it...

I felt inside the computer (such as the moboard) and it seems to be all dry!!! I had a couple fans, by chance, blowing on it overnight...So...

It felt dry...so i plug it back in,...it TURNS ON...but no startup BEEP...it just powers on at least...

=====ANY GUESSES!???? HAPPEN TO YOU??? DID ANYTHING 'SHORT-OUT' and have to be replaced...

I would assume that if it is totally dry...the parts should be okay...and should work//??? It powers on at least...then my power supply is okay...right??
How do you know if anything shorted-out???

Welcome to PCHF.

So...is the PC woking as normal now? If it's all good...it's all good. Personally, I would get a new PSU, but that's just me

NO...it doesnt startup!

I turn it on - via front power button...

I get a yellow/orange LIGHT (rather then green light) with NO BEEP after power is on...(just sits there)

NO BEEPS/ NO GREEN LIGHTS..(but its turned ON at least)

I would suspect its the power supply/...but it powers on...all fans turn on and all seems fine VISUALLY...from just looking at them...

but IT DOSENT STARTUP ANYMORE....

could it have fried the motherboard?? I dont get a beep...so...in 30 mins I'll run home from work and swap the power supply with a know good one...IF IT JUST the PSupply...THANK GOD! if my motherboard/cpu is all bad....im just gonna DIE!

I'd rather have a laptop...but there are just WAY to expensive for the power I want for gaming (at least 1gb ram ...and atleast 3.4ghz p4 with nice video card....yer talkin 2,000 dollars! hahah!)

I'll be back in about an hour to report...PLEASE check back....PLEASE SUGGEST ANYTHING!

I heard ::idea:: NO BEEP= BAD motherboard

true? I cant see how water on plaster board would KILL IT?! :|

Unless the water leaked into cracks or whatever...and shorted something out...
=========================

in 30 mins i will:

REPLACE =powersupply

If still no beeps....It's gotta be motherboard! :banghead:

Not necessarily, there could be a problem with the speaker on the motherboard e.t.c

Try the other power supply and get back to us, it does sound like something has shorted out we just need to locate where?

If the power supply doesn't work then we will have to go through the basic checks, video card, ram e.t.c

I recommend you disconnect everything besides the basics, so disconnect your hard drives / cd-roms. All you need connected is the PSU, video card, RAM and of course CPU.

Well the cheapest way to find out is to borrow other components to test. Start with swapping out the PSU. Actually, having re-read your post, it is more than likely that your motherboard has shorted...water + electricity = Pzzzzzttt!

You will be able to claim on your household insurance accidental damage if you have it.
