:-) Hi erdebear,

Sorry to hear you are still having troubles. I really think you should consider doind the clean XP install as described above. Print them out first.

Boot to the XP cd and follow those instructions. I think you will save yourself a lot of frustration and expense (a new system is going to cost :wink: ).

If you have any questions before going forward, please don't hesitate to ask. I will unmark this thread so we will be looking for you.

Thank you, I have to get another XP disc as the one I have used has had its maximum of activations and will load only a 30 day activation, also it is a disc from another PC and so does not load from a licence agreement page and so give the option to create partitions, it goes straight to the set-up page, after loading files, and i guess presumes it is recovering a system. The previous disc i have has become corrupted, but was a clone anyway and would not upgrade to SP2, ot other windows updates.
I will be back!! and let you know the outcome........
