Is there a good utility program out there to help troubleshoot this.? Windows XP is not seeing the boot drive at all...suggestion?

First have you tried booting from the XP CD?

Also, can you please give some detail on what might have been happening prior to this?

yes, I did... and tried to do a repari installation...it tells me it's not seeing a drive with a windows installation...also the primary drive is not coming up on the bios during bootup...so it's serious....

Well if your harddisk is not recognized in the BIOS, it think you have a hardware problem.
First thing to do is to make sure your harddisk is connected to your mainboard, and is power-supplied.
Another thing you could try is connect your harddisk to another computer (if you are able to do that), and check if it's being recognized there. If not, I'm afraid your harddrive has crashed someway.

no...it just started out of the blue...i walked into the room one day..and the computer was hung up trying to reboot.

Before this happend did you hear any strange sounds coming from youre pc? Clicks or rattling maybe?
Also can you hook up the drive to an other pc to test it?
