Re: Can't delete!?...

Welcome aboard.
Did you try using some Spyware and/or Adware detection software?
Here is what I would do first. ?(This assumes that you tried to delete, rename, etc. on the desktop)
Right-click the offending icon, select properties. ?If it is a shortcut, under the shortcut tab there is a box labled 'Target', this will tell you the file name and the location (sometimes it may not). ?Write it down so you can locate it later. ?If the 'Find Target' button is available you can click it to see if it can be found. ?Select the 'General' tab for some basic info: file dates, size, attributes, etc.
[The following assumes it is just one file not a folder containing files]
Next use Windows Explorer to locate file, right-click file and select 'Delete'. ?If that fails to delete the file try the right-click again and select 'Rename', rename the file extension (3 characters after the period) to something like 'old'. ?Try to delete the file now, if that fails, rename the whole file to anything (I like 1z.old), try to delete again. ?If that fails, try copying the file to a temporary type location and try to delete original again (delete the copy also). ?If that fails, try moving the file to the temporary location and try to delete it there. ?If that fails try doing this procedure in 'Safe Mode'.
Post back with results.
This is a procedure that I use before I move onto anything more drastic.
Maybe one of the resident genius's knows of a piece of software that will do it for you. ?Hang in there, you came to the right spot.
