Default My Computer freeze with some CD-RW

Quite often when I insert a CD-RW into my D drive and right click on the d drive, nothing happens or it will freeze my computer and cause windows explorer to crash. This is only when the CD is not blank.
I would be grateful to suggestions to help rectify this problem.
:-)

It sounds like the problem occurs when windows trys to "autorun" the CD.

Have you tried changing the IDE cable that connects to the CD-ROM or the CD-ROM itself to see whether it is a hardware or a software problem?

Joker123.

Had a similar problem, tracked it down to one or 2 things. First I tried using different brand disks with a lower speed rating (from 24x to 12x). Somewhat solved the problem (more disks became readable-with data on them). The I changed software (from BHA to Nero), and continued to use 12x disks. Have not had a problem (with 12x) yet. Have not tried the 24x disks yet.

It appears that the 'packet' writing/formating software might have been the problem.

Hope this helps.
