Default Screen shows blue & yellow stripes

When I played The Sims: Living Large for abit then exited out, my monitor showed blue and yellow stripes across it, and after I restarted, it takes about 5 mins or so then the stripes come back. I have tried this on my CRT monitor (I regularly use a Flat Panel one), no changes, so it might be my video card, I just hope that the darn game didn't cause this.

Everyonce in a while, the stripes come back full screen, then it goes back to the top half of the icons having those stripes.

Everything was absolutely fine before I played that sims game, I've had my computer for about 2 years, and I have played Psychonauts, Halo, Halo CE, Battlefield 2, and they are fine, until this...

I have WinXP Pro SP2
Intel Penium 4 with H/T (3.0 GHz)
1 GB RAM
250 GB HD
ATI Radeon 9800
ATI TV Wonder Pro

Default Re: Screen shows blue & yellow stripes

Welcome to PCHF

It sounds like its one of two things:
  • Faulty Video Card
  • Need to update your drivers

When was the last time you updated your video drivers?
If it was a while ago then go to the ATI site and download the updates. (http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html)

If you have recently updated your drivers then it could be that, so you could try and reinstall the old drivers (sounds weird but does happen)

Alternatively if it is neither of those problems then I suspect the video card, do you have another video card that you could try?
