Default Problems with Installing VGA Drivers

I have installed a new card (Radeon 9800Pro 128Mb) from my (GeForce FX 5500 AGP 8x/4x) and I am getting errors when I try to install the drivers. I have on-board graphics and was trying to find out whrere to disable them but do not know how if I should be doing that. I know all of my system specs if you need them but I just want to get this computer going.

On a side note: I just recently replaced the PSU to a MadDog Multimedia 550W because my generic 350W seemed to have burned out its lifespan trying to run the new card. I was getting the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME 0x000000ED error and did procedure chkdsk /r and all that good stuff and fixed that but I just wanted to throw that in there just in case.

/help

Normally when you install an AGP card (or external card) it will automatically disable the onboard graphics card.
The only other way to disable it is through your BIOS when you start your machine. There should be an option of which device you would like to boot first, AGP or PCI e.t.c

What error are you getting when installing the drivers?

There is a know issue that the installation of a ATI card after that Nvidia drivers have been installed from privious card give problems.

I had exact the same probleme in the past on my own PC. Has been resolved by re?nstalling windows. (In my case it was necessary anyhow)

But maybe you can check what is left of the Nvidia drivers first, maybe you can uninstall it from add/remove programs or by reving everything out of the registry from Nvidia.

Well, I will try cleaning up the drivers first because now I notice after running chkdsk that it probably is just the drivers now and I found this little tool and I will try it. If it works I will tell you and then I guess oyu can index this tool for future use.

yes very good program... Be carefull though somtimes you might destroy other drivers in the proccess.. Make sure only to clean the drivers you know you have.. And use it to clean up hydravision as well.

Well, after all of that nothing worked but I have all my stuff backed up anyway. It is not worth the t/s anymore so I am re-installing it. Reason why I didn't do taht in the first place is I wanted to try and fix and I have like 15GB in gaming files that I need to re-install now. It is OK but I can afford another day just using my secondary computers for the things I need to get done.
