Default [Answered] MSN Explorer

Hi there

I just bought a Dell Dimension 5100. However, it just has the "E" Internet Explorer Icon, and NOT
the old "Butterfly" icon, which took you into explorer. My problem is that all my Favorites are saved
under the old format, and they do not come up when I use the new Internet Explorer. How do I
get back the other format? (new one is 6.02900).

Thanks
Ginny Gilmore

What version of windows is on there , and in what format are the favorites?
Also in what folder did you put the favorites?

Hi Joe

It's Windows XP.....I have no idea where it saved it on the old one.
The motherboard went on my old computer, but the data was ok on the hard drive.
I unhooked the hard drive from the old one, connected it to the new one, and copied
EVERYTHING from old to new, in a new sub-directory called "Old Programs".
It has a 160 gb hard drive, so there's plenty of room.
However, since the new one doesn't "sign in", like the other Internet explorer did, it doesn't tie
the favorites to my name, so I don't know how to get to the favorites.

Have a look at start/all programs and/or C:\Program Files to see if you can find MSN Explorer there. If yes then you can copy a shortcut to where you want. If not , go to "add and remove programs" and then on the right select "add/remove windows components" and put a tick next to "msn explorer" (have youre xp cd in youre drive) and it will be installed.

For youre favorites , go to youre "old programs" folder that you created and navigate to Old Programs\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Favorites ( replace administrator with youre name) and copy them to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Favorites.
