Windows XP/2000 - Reformat posted in the Operating Systems forums; Is it neciceary to reformat after putting a new mobo on . or can i just reinstall on the same partition. if i cant how can i get my info....

If you are putting a new motherboard on your PC then yes, you've really got to re-format and re-install Windows in whatever partition it exists in.

any way to get my info back i got a 15 page term paper , and its not backed up on a disc cus my pc was shut down when i was in florida :

Don't you just hate it when that happens, my husband does that to me all of the time.

First and most importantly, DON'T PANIC. If there is a way to get your data retrieved I am sure the team here can help. Unfortunately, the guys who are expert in that area are not currently on line, and it isn't my area of expertise.

Stay calm, remember how beautiful Florida was , and one of the guys will get back to you as soon as they get back.

I don't understand what you mean by "shut down" - What have you done with your hard drive since your original post?

Before i left for florida i had the pc turned off. when i was away im asuming there was a power surge and it zapped the MoBo. But I was in need of a New Mobo any way. But I Should be able to atleast use Knoppix and get my info mainly the termpaper and some songs. but I am open to any suggestions.
