Do you have one harddisk? And if you have only one HD , do you have separete partitions on that HD?
If you have more then one HD/partition then you can just copy what you want to there and only format the C disk.

You can also try to boot with the old windows install in safemode and see if it runs , if it runs then you maybe can burn things to cd , if its the same brand mobo then it might just run.
Or did you buy the same brand/model motherboard as you had before?

Or you can hook up the drive to an other pc and copy youre data then.

Well this is the second time I will recommend this today :-) .. Take the hard drive and throw it in the freezer for 20 minutes to a half hour. take it out and it will work for 5 to 20 minute's.. So be quick lol. It works tried and tested by me and many other older PC g33k's

Hey thanks guy but too late for the paper so i redid it on this comp , i needed it for the 6th and im not getting my PC back till probly the 5th or 6th so :-/ but tanks for the help now im gonna try that freezer thing lol
