Windows XP/2000 - [Answered]change back from ntfs to fat 32 hows it done? posted in the Operating Systems forums; installed xp pro with ntfs file system but now want to go back to Fat32 hows it done thanks...

Sorry Dino but you cannot convert ntfs to Fat32 in XP

Even if it was possible, which it isnt, why would you want to convert back, to FAT32 anyway? XP runs much better on an NTFS enabled drive anyway. Plus NTFS is faster and it doesnt need defragmenting as often as FAT32.

dont want to change but the Windows XP i bought wont allow windows to update so must be a copy although it looks genuine oem disc

The file system has nothing to do with windows update and legal or illegal copy's of windows.
Unless you mean that you want to ditch xp and go back to an older version of windows?

yes just want to format drive and install windows millenium, i like XP but worried about not getting latest updates etc
