Default [Pending] 98 to XP upgrading problems..

Hey Guys,

I'm nto sure if it's anything to do with the age of my computer of the version of my BIOS. But when I attempt to install windows XP on my 98 machine, 8 times out of 10 the whole process doesn't complete, but when it does complete and the computer reboots, I do not get an XP loading window, the screen just goes black. I have waited for 40 minutes once, so it definately freezes for good!

When I try to install 98 again, it installs like a breeze, and loads up like a dream..

What do you think my problem could be?

Thank you,
Andy

To be totally honest with you, the best thing to do is to save/backup your important data onto a CD or DVD and then format the drive and install XP as a "Clean installation". I would NEVER put XP on top of 98.

the best option is to make a backup of your important stuff and then format and install XP
