That error code indicates that a memory access violation occured in a kernel-mode program or driver and the error handler didn't know how to deal with it. Did you add any new hardware, low level software (like disk utilities or antivirus), or update any drivers just before this error started occuring?

also, sometimes when i've just started my computer i cant access any applications, even if i let the computer sit a moment. when i try and access software my computer acts like its gonna open the app but then just stops doin it, then i cant even shut it down without doing a hard shutdown, i have to give the computer like 5 minutes in order to avoid this. are these problems related? the only thing is this particular problem just started happening a couple of weeks ago so i dont know what to think.

what motherboard do you have? This problem can probly be solved with a driver update. How much ram do you have?

Here is what Microsoft says about it but it say's it is by design? But it is likely stoping somthing from accessing you io's in your bios

CAUSE
This behavior may occur if your computer's basic input/output system (BIOS) tries to write to one of the earlier ports by using an AML [Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Machine Language] System IO operation region. Your try may be blocked by Microsoft Windows XP because accessing these ports by using this mechanism is considered dangerous and can cause system instability. This feature is designed to improve the stability of your computer's operating system.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.

I did it!!! My computer is fixed and I successfully burned a dvd. All I had to do was update my chipset software. The reason I never thought to do this was because when I first upgraded to Win XP I went to the chipset update site and saw that the last update was in 2002 and so I automatically assumed that I had already upgraded around that time since I am adiment about upgrading all my software. Then when the error occured Windows gave me all sorts of misleading info on what the problem could be and got me heading down the wrong track. Thank you very much for you time and knowledge merlin :, if you hadn't have givin me that last post I never would've thought to double back and check out my chipset software again!!!!
Thanx guys!!!!
