Hello. Seems like the problem is relating to the ipconfig/all return of "unknown". There is a way to fix this but it does require editing the registry if you're ok with that.
This can occur if the EnableProxy key in the registry is set to bigger than 1.. To fix this issue, run Regedit and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Netbt\Parameters\
Change the value of the EnableProxy value in the preceding registry key to 0 or 1, and then renew ip.
Just for kicks and grins I opened the registry on my machineto practice before going to the Acer. I went down the path to Parametes and at this point there was no entry for 'Enable Proxy' to change the registry value. There was another level below \Parametes\ called Interfaces but it had TCPIP values. Am I doing something wrong or did I miss something in the path.
As tj said I don't mean to insult anyones intelligence as I have very little :-D...But when I first set up wireless in my house I forgot to plug in the cat5 cables?
:laughing@:
Merlin, I can do you one better, when my hubby bought our wireless router, ($10 baby, yeah!) We couldn't figure out why his laptop wouldn't connect. Figured, you get what you pay for, right. Takes it in to the techs at work, and they ask if he had tested it with Wireless connection set to ON at any point!!! :laughing@: I told him that was as good as the old tech joke about plugging it in.

Don't worry Wings, were nuts, but were good, I am positive that we can get this working for you.
