For some reason if I switch off my pc (having some electrical work done at the mo so I have to switch it off) when I restart it it skips the point where I have to enter my PW, which intern causes problems when trying to access the internet. So what I have to do is re-start it then it seems to be fine. Just wondering why its doing this. Many thanks

:-) Hi Teash,

That sounds like a pain, I just want to be sure I am clear on your problem.

Restarting brings back your logon screen, but powering off eliminates it, right?

What version of windows are you using? Have you tried going to Start, Log (on or off depending on what it is recognizing)

I would be really curious to know if it thinks you are logged on.

Look forward to hearing from you.

More or less tjnbarbour, if I switch off the pc it reboots and misses out the part where I type in my password but at this point if I re-start its prompts me to enter PW. The main reson I want to sort out this problem is(deep breath) when it restarts (after shutting it down) when I connect to the internet, it connects as normal but the page cannot be displayed which after numerous phonecalls to my ISP they still can`t explain the problem but, like i`ve said when I re-start it i`ve no problem after entering my PW it connects nice and bonny. They (ISP) have told me it MAY have something to do with McAfee but they`re not to sure. Hope this may give you a better idea. Oh and i`m running XP (don`t know what version? but pc`s about a year old)

Possible that your Windows user profile is corrupt in some way. Create a new one and see if the problem persists.

Hey Guys,

I would still be interested in whether or not her PC thinks she is logged in, it could be more than her profile in that case, wouldn't it be the settings Windows uses to override the log in process with the quick log in?
