This is a pretty stupid problem, yet I can't seem to figure this out. I changed my theme (months ago) for Win XP, and ever since much of everything is in italics for no apparent reason. I've looked around at various settings but haven't been able to fix this (not even by changing the theme either)

Have you been to the 'Display Properties' sheet. Select the 'Appearance' tab then select the 'Advanced' button and then go through the 'Items' list looking for any items that have the 'Italics' button enabled.

Yeh, tried all of that, it most notably affects browsers/websites. Whole google searches on italics, etc. I didn't use standard means to change the theme if i remember either, so im wondering if its altered settings that generally aren't usually alterable by the user. I've checked a few other display files in the windows directory but can't find anything.

do you remember what program you used or did you do a reg hack? Was it styleXP? If it is only on the web, you can always reset web setting's

Think it was StyleXP/themeXP, and at first I did think it was only on the web, though it seemed to happen in a few editing applications I used (Though its not impossible that they take on the web settings).

Theme Xp and most style XP files have spyware on them!! You might want to post a hijackthis log into the hijackthis forum
