OK since your having sooo much trouble lets do a full reformat.... Save everything important to a cd or dvd that way you can install it when you are done..
Stick you Xp cd in and let it go... Now when it get's to where it ask's you if you want to do a fresh install or repair ..do a fresh install, and I want you to make a couple partition's... When it ask's you what disk you want XP to go on click on the Disk and press C it will bring you to another sreen..there will be a number that is 60 gig's but type in this number instead...20480..that will be your C drive...it will take you back and press c again...to create another partition..type in this number....4096...thats going to be your page file...Windows works much better without the page file inside the C drive...Now again create another partition...with this number....10240...That will be your documents and internet temp files...Again windows will be much quicker and safer as well..Now create the last partition with what you have left.. This is where you will put all of your programs like zone alarm and spysweeper..etc...Windows will do it's thing and once you finally get to the desktop... First thing your going to want to do is..right click my computer and click manage and go into disk management.. Now format all of the parttions so you can use em... Next right click my computer click properties...click advanced .. then click on settings right next to performance..tick the circle that says adjust for best performance..then click the circle that says custom...only check the boxes that say Use common tasks in folders and use visual styles on windows and buttons click apply... The go to the next tab that says adavanced right next to the visual effect's.. go to the bottom and there you will see Virtual memory... Click change...You will see the page file on C highlight C and click no paging file and click set...then highlight your D partition you will name PageFile. And click the circle that says custom size..put this number in..1024 min and 1024 max..Hit apply you will have to reboot. While it is rebooting press F* to go into safe mode and defrag in safe mode.. Might take a bit, but its great to do this right after you did all this to make sure all the system folders are good and at the beggining of the drive..Once done reboot and go to reg mode..click start right click on my documents...hit properties and then click move...move it to drive E it will ask if you want to move all docs there say ya well dont say just click ok.. Next Right click IE and hit properties..click settings..there will be a number in the probly around 1420 or somthing like it put 80 in that box no need to have a temp folder that big...click apply...next click move folder again send it to you E partiton or drive..click apply and you will have to log off.. Log back in...phewww. A couple mmore things and you will have an OS that will be fast and wont fragment as much..Right click on the desktop...and hit properties..screensaver and click on the power button ..go to the tab that says hibernate.. untick hibernate..there you saved 500 megs of space...Then install programs and drivers and download this program

Diskeeper LIte

now you got a great defrag utlilty(also fast) after all that defrag all exept the page drive which would be drive D..
remeber to install all your programs and music etc.. in drive F so most will ask if you want to install on c just change the C with F as seen below..all you have to do is click over the C it will become black and just type In F.. any questions ask away lol.. Im not responsible for typos hahahaha.. Dang I should make a tutorial out of this ::idea:: I gurantee your system will be faster run smoother and have more space and be very tidy...
