Formatting; refers to erasing, or cleaning a drive or disk of all previous information in order to prepare it for new data. This could be an operating system, or just new files.
XP; Is an operating system, it is an intrinsic part of how a computer works and allows all of the other programs and peripherals (keyboards, mice, CD players, etc,) to work together. Microsoft has had many over the years; 3.1, Win 95, Win98, WinNT, Win2000, WinME, and now WinXP.
Operating systems can develop problems which cause your computer not to run properly. This can require repairing the system by a number of different methods. One of which, the most extreme, is reformatting the drive and reinstalling the operating system, in your case, Win XP.
You say that you just kinda want to reformat all of XP on your machine, I am curous as to what is causing you to say that. Are you having problems with the computer? It sounds in your original posts as if you do not have the instal disks for the PC, perhaps you don't actually have to reformat, but just do some repairs. Why don't you post what the specific problems are and see if we can't help you resolve the issues.
Take care

Well, actually, I really just wanted to reformat my hard drives, basically all of Windows XP, when I had those pesky Trojan Horse viruses on my PC,

Thanks again, everybody!
