Windows XP/2000 - [Pending] Computer runs slow posted in the Operating Systems forums; I refortmatted my hard drive. The computer does have an internet connection but it takes it forever to go anywhere. Any ideas/suggestions?...

Default [Pending] Computer runs slow

I refortmatted my hard drive. The computer does have an internet connection but it takes it forever to go anywhere. Any ideas/suggestions?

Viruses and spyware.

Also check your startup programs: Start >>>> Run >>>> msconfig

Could you also run hijackthis and post your log.

Also what type of connection do you have? Cable. Dsl? you can go here if you have broadband and test your speeds against other's with your service

It is a cable internet connection. It's not the connection, I have another PC hooked up to it and there's no problem. The computer I re-did the hard drive on is an E-machine. Don't know if that helps.

Did you try any of the anti virus and spyware apps that Madgamer suggested?

And could you post a hijackthis log?
