Default [FIXED] - I killed my computer - HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!

I think i may have really screwed up my lovely computer....sigh

My trouble started when i tried to do a clean install of XP Pro over XP home.

When i ran the set up,it appeared that my HD was missing, i had no c:/windows partiotion showing on the blue screen only 4 drives D,E,F & G
when i hit enter anyway the system crashed to a blue screen with lots of 0x0 errors (did not take notes, silly me)

now i seem to be stuck in a install set up loop hell,i can neither complete the set up and install XP Pro or boot back to windows (when i select reboot to windows in any mode:normal, safe, safe with net, last known good set up etc i see the display of the windows logo, then it fades out and the system shuts down......
i really need some help, and my computer knowlege is sucky

System:
AMD 3500+
Asus A8V deluxe mb
1024 MB nanya(?) ram
204GB Promise 1+0 stripe/RAIDO SCSI drive
NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT

UPDATE:when i run recovery console i type in C:\>CHKDSK
i get the reply

the volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems

Welcome to the forums

Sounds like you need to do a completely fresh install of windows and that would require you to format your existing hard drive.

Is there any information on the PC at the moment that you really need to keep?

How many hard drives are you running in your system?

If you don't mind loosing all your information you can do the following:

? ? ? ?-? ? ?Boot off your Windows XP pro cd-rom and go into the windows setup, when you get asked about partitions choose delete, then
? ? ? ? ? ? ?recreate the partition and format it using NTFS.

Have a look at this website, it has a step by step guide on how to install Windows onto a machine as well as formatting/partitioning the hard drive.

Alright remove everything but the basics from your computer, so just leave 1 hard drive and 1 CD-ROM drive in your PC.

If you hard drive is a "SATA" drive then you might need to get the drivers for it before you try to install windows, otherwise run the Windows setup and delete all partitions that is shows on the drive. Once delete simply recreate the partition as one big partition.

Then carry on and format from there.
