it came preinstalled with windows XP and any other software that was on it when I purchased it last Nov 2004....there are no discs that came with it other than some software about office something or another.

I start it up and hit F10 and it brings up the recovery thing, which I ran, however when I ran it, it kept popping up things that are not found on the computer any longer and I had to hit ok to continue with the Recovery process....however, after one hour and 45 minutes of doing that......it is still not working.

Shows a few dll errors and states that windows doesn't exist.

I cannot put windows on there, cause as I said....it came with XP on it and I do not have a disc to put it back on there.



Is there anyone that can give me step by step directions on what I should do.
(I'm VERY computer illiterate)
(thanks to my sister's computer, I can ask this question and HOPE for HELP!!!)

I suggest that as your PC is still under manufacturers warranty that you contact HP and get them to either send you a recovery disc or advise you as to what to do next. We are not going to get very far without an XP install or recovery disc.
