Default [Information/Pending] USB's on the blink

My USB ports have stoped reconizing devices. Wheather its a pen drive of a NetMD player I get the same error message. I have tried uninstalling all the USB components in device mangaer in the correct order and this works sometimes but not others.

Also when the ports are working I get a message about the device being able to run at a faster speed (as it is USB 2.0). All my ports are USB 2.0, but which ever I put the device in I get the same error (also there are six possible ports listed but I only have 3). I have checked in the device manager and the ports are labeled enhanced, and yet I get a message saying they can run faster.

Please help, this is a very annoying problem, and I have no idea why its so intermittent.

Tim

Are you using the ports on the front or rear of the PC ?

Its a laptop so there all connected straight to the motherboard, shame, cos it rules out a loose connection.

Hey Guys and Gals,

This thread was left unfinished. The USB drivers may have become corrupt, or out dated, and TVRTim should have uninstalled, and then reinstalled those drivers. It is also possible that the BIOS is outdated and needed to be flahsed.

If you are having similar difficulties, please try all of the suggestions on this thread. If you continue to have problems, please start your own thread in the proper OS Forum. Please post the make and model of your PC/Laptop, and the information on your BIOS and Drivers. Don't worry, if you need help to find them, we can help with that as well.

Look forward to seeing you in the forums,

TTFN
